During the chimpanzee trekking habituation experience, visitors move into the forest with the researchers and habituators early in the morning and can see the chimps leaving their nests if you arrive there at 6:00 or 6:30am. Kyambura gorge is located in Queen Elizabeth national park in the western part of Uganda. Kyambura gorge is a forested long valley of about 16km with a depth of about 100m. The forest is a home to chimps some of which have been habituated for tourism though the chances of spotting them are lower than at any other place in Uganda. The forest or gorge walk is also entertained by the numerous bird species and other primates such as black and white colobus monkeys, olive baboons and others that you’ll spot around the forest, not forgetting the captivating sceneries around the gorge.

Budongo forest in Murchison falls national park is an exciting place for chimpanzee trekking Uganda. After Kibale national park and Kalinzu forest, Budongo forest is rated 3rd among areas where you could easily spot the chimps. The forest is located in Murchison falls national park. Budongo forest has about 800 chimps and about 100 have been habituated for tracking. A permit for chimp tracking here costs $85.
