Mountain gorillas are endangered species and they are 1000 remaining in the whole world. Uganda at large harbors over 480 mountain gorillas in both Bwindi Impenetrable national park and Mgahinga gorilla national park in Southern Uganda.

A gorilla trekking permit costs US$600 throughout the year and visitors are allowed to spend one hour with the gorillas. 112 permits are available each day and 8 visitors per group are allowed to trek a particular family from the 13 families in Bwindi and 01 in Mgahinga gorilla national park.

Your trek is so important because that money is used in the conservation of the gorillas. Health organizations like the MGVP greatly need your support to treat to the injured apes.

The revenue earned from trekking is used to support the local community including their businesses and this promotes more love and desire by the local people to conserve and protect these endangered species.

Infrastructure in terms of roads, schools and hospitals have been constructed especially in Buhoma sector of Bwindi Impenetrable national park hence attracting more tourists to trek the gorillas.
