Kigali Genocide Memorial Centre – The Genocide Memorial Centre is located is located just few metres from the city centre and covers a driving time of approximately 10 min. This is the final resting place for hundreds of thousands of Rwandan victims estimated to have killed more than 250,000 people throughout the disaster. This position is run by a United Kingdom Non-Governmental Organization responsible for preventing anything like Rwandan in 1994 occurring elsewhere in the world. Inside this remembrance centre of genocide there are numerous display areas, such as room for Survivor skulls their personal belongings, survivor images, attempts at healing, and victims of genocide. Aside from the genocide of Rwanda, there is room for photographs and descriptions of other tragic genocides witnessed in other parts of the world that speaks volumes of caution to be deemed necessary to prevent anything of this kind from happening anywhere in the world. Outside the building, you will find a garden filled with mass graves where survivors and those lost their loved ones come to re-connect and to remember their beloved families, friends and relatives that where mercilessly slaughtered.
