1 day Jinja tour – An excursion from Kampala to Jinja
A 1 day Jinja tour compresses a number of adventurous activities and great sites in only one day. It starts from Kampala to Sezibwe falls to view and take photos and a short nature walk, then to Mabira forest for a forest walk where you’ll spot different species of birds, monkeys and other mammals. When we arrive in Jinja, you’ll go for a boat ride along River Nile to see it’s the source.
Detailed programe for the 1 day Jinja tour
Morning session: Kampala to Mukono-Sezibwa falls
After your breakfast early in the morning, our driver guide is ready to pick you and start on the trip to Jinja. After a drive of about an hour, you will make the first stopover at Sezibwe falls in Mukono which is about 32 kilometers from Kampala.
The beautiful falls give an amazing cool breeze and background for photography as the water flows down the rocks at about 7 meters high. The area has flourishing vegetation which is also a home for various bird species. A brief nature walk will be done alongside scenic viewing.
After this, you’ll proceed to Mabira forest where you’ll also go for a forest walk of about 2 hours through the trails of the thick rain forest. As you penetrate into the forest, you’ll experience cooler temperatures. You will see beautiful birds, primates especially monkeys and baboons which all reside in this forest. At the end of the forest walk, you proceed to Jinja.
Afternoon session: Source of the Nile
On arrival in Jinja town, you’ll first have lunch and go to the Rippon falls before you can go further to the source of the Nile. On the source of the Nile, you may find different lizards and you’ll spot many birds around the place and this would be a great spot for birders. This is the point where water leaves L. Victoria through the Victoria Nile Northwards connecting to the Albert Nile into South Sudan, forming the Blue and White Nile that proceeds to Egypt till it pours into the Mediterranean Sea.
Embark on the return journey before 5:00pm
