1 day tour to Ziwa rhino sanctuary- Rhino tracking

1 Day Uganda Rhino Tracking at the Ziwa Rhino Sanctuary – Ziwa rhino sanctuary’s main activity is tracking for rhinos which are the major attractions there. This and Entebbe zoo are the only places in Uganda where you can see rhinos after they got extinct in some national parks where they naturally lived but were poached for their horns. Besides rhinos, the sanctuary is a home for reptiles, birds, hippos, Uganda kobs, monkeys, warthogs among others. The sanctuary is located in Nakasongola off the highway road, about 170km from Kampala to the eastern direction and it takes about 2.5 hours to reach there. Rhino tracking is done on foot under guidance of a ranger guide.

Start your day with the morning meal before the driver picks you up from your residence at 7:00am. He will brief you about the trip and start the journey. You’ll stop at Luweero in case you need to purchase furits; mangoes, pineapples, oranges, bananas (at your own expense). As you continue, you’ll reach Nakasongola which is known for cattle that you’ll see some of them grazing in the short vegetation.

On arrival at the sanctuary, you are briefed and given guidelines to follow when tracking. A guide takes you to track the rhinos and this lasts for 2 hours. You’ll drive out for lunch at Kabalega Diners as you relax and thereafter return to Kampala or Entebbe.
