3 Days Sabyinyo Mountain Hike | Hiking 3669m Top of Mountain Sabinyo
Climbing to the top of Mt. Sabinyo is one of the most adventurous hikes you’ll go through. It has three hills at varying heights; 3423m, 3537m and the highest at 3669m. Mount Sabinyo is one of the volcanoes of Mount Mgahinga in southwestern Uganda, but shared with Rwanda and Congo. It is however only in Uganda that this mountain can be hiked because of the extremely rugged and rough terrain in the other two countries. A journey to Kisoro town before the day of hiking takes about 8-9 hours.
Day 1: Travelling from Kampala to Kisoro
The driver guide of the company will pick you from your hotel after you breakfast and start the journey to the town closest to Mount Sabinyo- Kisoro. The first stop over is at the equator in Kayabwe for photos in the North and Sothern hemisphere at same point. After this, you proceed through Masaka to Mbarara town where you’ll have lunch and continue to Kisoro through Kabale. Check in at your lodge, have dinner and dose off for the night.
Lodges around the area: Travelers Rest and Moderate Lodge for mid-range and Virunga Hotel and Campsite for luxury
Day 2: Climbing to the summit of Sabinyo
Mountain climbing starts in the morning after having breakfast. Because of the rugged terrain, this trip takes 8 hours where you will also move on hand made wooden ladders to bridge you over very rough landscape. When you arrive at the peak, you will view three countries; Uganda, Rwanda and Congo.
You’ll move back to the base and arrive in the evening, check in and relax.
Day 3: Return Journey
We shall have breakfast and check out, leave Kisoro to Kabale and first branch off to Lake Bunyonyi for canoeing. We shall then proceed to Mbarara town for lunch and thereafter drive back to Kampala.
