Virunga Tours – Virunga national park in the Democratic Republic of Congo is the most biologically diverse protection area in Africa that is still less tempered with because of the civil unrest that the region has suffered for the last two decades. The 7,800sq.km area was recently reopend after declaring it safe for tourism activities. the park is located in Eastern part of DRC and can easily be accessed through the nearest town and border with Rwanda, Goma which also has comfortable accommodations for tourists on safari.

Virunga national park is well known for its special attractions which include the endagerd mountain gorillas, chimpanzees, lowland gorillas, a large number of mammals including lions, elephants, hippos, warthogs along side a big record of more than 700 bird species including the Rwenzori Turaco, grey-throated barbet among others. There are 109 retile species, 65 amphibian species, over 2000 plant species and more primates that include monkeys and baboons. A variety of tourism activities have been developed to view these wildlife; gorilla tracking, chimpanzee habituation, nature walk, visiting Senkwekwe gorilla orphanage centre, birding and more.

A safari to Virunga national park is more adventurous if you include a hike to the most active volcano in Africa- Mount Nyiragongo to view the red glow of from the vent where of the boiling magma.

Before setting off for your safari, confirm that you have your valid passport, valid yellow fever vaccination card and a tourist visa that will allow you to enter DRCongo.

Note: The Rwanda visa will expire when you cross to DRC and you are therefore requird to apply for another one if you are to get back to Rwanda after the tour so that it will be ready by the end of the tour.
